2021 Ordo Kalendar

This year’s Kalendar features the art of Sir Ninian Comper (1864-1960), one of the last, great architects of the Gothic Revival. Though Comper was influenced by the English perpendicular style, his later work was regarded as eclectic, mixing classical, medieval, and renaissance elements in an effort to achieve “unity by inclusion.” Musing on Comper’s accomplishment at St. Cyprian’s, poet laureate Sir John Betjeman, wrote “there is a quality of reverence about this and all Comper’s churches which makes a materialist lower his voice and brings the agnostic to his knees.” The Anglican Parishes Association is pleased to share examples of the work that elicited such a statement through a collaboration with Father Lawrence Lew of the Dominican Province of England.
