Black Leather; lvii + 611 + 1778 pages
5 & 1/4 x 7 & 3/8 x 1 & 7/8 inches
First Printing by APA (2006)

This lovely book consists of two parts: the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the Authorized version of the Bible.

The 1928 Book of Common Prayer is beloved by Anglican traditionalists throughout the United States. Unlike the 1979 book that was adopted by the Episcopal Church, the 1928 BCP stands in direct line of descent from Thomas Cranmer's 1549 Book of Common Prayer, and as such, its collects preserve the beauty Archbishop's original prose. The Epistles and Gospels are taken from the Authorized Version (otherwise known as the King James Bible) and the Psalter remains that which has been used by generations of Anglicans throughout the world, that of the Great Bible of 1539.

The Authorized, or King James Bible, is perhaps the most influential book ever published in the English speaking world. The beauty of its language has influenced countless writers and speakers, and its phrases ring in the cultural memory of English speaking Christendom. APA's version includes the Apocrypha, something of a rarity in modern publications.

The BCP/KJV comes bound in genuine leather (shown here) or in hardback binding. Each BCP/KJV comes bound with 6 colored ribbons for use as bookmarks. Pages for dedications, as well as for commemorations of family events, are included at the front.

I and a number of people from our parish have been using copies for over two years. To the best of my knowlege, we have all been delighted by the quality and convenience of this work. It certainly makes saying the daily office easier than alternating back and forth between a separate BCP and Bible.

I have owned this publication for over two years and have been unable to use it for more than a week at a time: the quality of the printing is horrendous. This is a very important publication with impecable binding and markers. If the publisher ever decides to reissue this Bible and corrects the shorcomings of the printing, I would be willing to spend the money again. To APA I would say, please do not use the printer responsible for this Bible again: their work is totaly unprofessional.

I found flaws in the quality of the book. Though an invaluable tool for use at church, I found Inconsistencies in the quality of the print, with only half of the letters of some words missing/intact, and some over-inking of other words, throughout the entire book. Also, I found a misspell of the word Midian, spelled as Madian. For the price, red lettering for our Lord’s passages should be included. In addition the corners of the pages could also be rounded, to further extend the life and durability of the book. I enjoy this book and use it daily, but if I could find or recommend another with cleaner and complete print, red letters and no mis-spells, I would.

I've been waiting for this volume since last Fall and am very pleased with what arrived today. The binding is good quality and as photographically reproduced reprints go, the printing quality is excellent as well. I expect to get years of use from this volume, both practical, personal, and professional. Thanks for once again making this valuable volume available.
